GIRLS TO THE FRONT

hey! i've got some last minute 'i'm gonna be tabling somewhere with vampire sushi!!!' news. tomorrow i'll be tabling at the girls to the front by sara marcus book reading & signing organized by girls get busy & storm in a teacup, and it might even be that i'll have some copies of your pretty face is going straight to hell #16 hott off the press. i've only got a couple more pages to do and i'm hoping they'll be done tonight and i can make some copies quick after work tomorrow before heading up to london town.

i'm rather excited. i only just got my copy of girls to the front on monday so i haven't read it yet but what i have read so far is pretty acetastic and i think i might actually keep a highlighter (or possibly a crayon) on me while reading it because it seems to be full of good quotes / stuff to remember.

We are so excited and proud to be teaming up together to present this amazing event for the wonderful Sara Marcus.

Sara will be talking about her well renowned book 'Girls to the Front' and the Riot Grrrl movement, which will be followed by rousing discussion.
Merchandise will be available to purchase, and be sure to bring along your copy of GttF because Sara will be doing book signings in the last hour. Merch stall by The Feminist Library and zine distro by Vampire Sushi.

"Sara Marcus’s Girls to the Front is not only a historical rockument of the revolutionary 90s counterculture Riot Grrrl movement, which birthed the DIY feminist punk scene, but also a rousing inspiration for a new generation of empowered rebel girls to strap on guitars and stick it to The Man." - Vanity Fair

SISTERS ARE FOREVER.

happy international women's day! i'll start with the good stuff. in honour of 101st international women’s day tomorrow, i have decided to donate 11% of all orders from vampire sushi distro for the rest of march to oxfam’s international women’s day fund since we didn’t get around to organizing our own tea party for it! here’s the rushed poster i made the other night for the tea party at the chatham oxfam..

though as per usual i have spent a large chunk of the day being grumpy at cisdudes going "what about international men's day?" *rolls eyes* (though i did manage to pop into town for distro post, buy a dress & a knitted miniskirt, and have a cup of coffee and some homemade cake at oxfam with the old ladies + a tammy annual from 1973 for zine stuffs) first of all it's not funny or clever, and it's the oldest 'joke' ever. and second of all besides all other days of the year essentially being dedicated to you lovely white cisdudes, if you did some simple googling you would know that international men's day is november 19th, so shut the fuck up. i may have told this to an old and quite dear friend from uni on facebook today but more politely. and also made a 2nd comment that i was VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HIM, though i deleted it straight after cos i'm a sissy and i hate confrontation, but unless he's disabled his notifications he knows. it felt kinda good calling him out because i spend SO MUCH TIME grinding my teeth at people and not saying anything because i dislike arguments. though mostly because i am bad at arguments and don't want to lose especially when i know for a fact i'm in the right but am unable to articulate my argument sufficiently to educate my adversary.

here's a pair of accurate donna noble gifs via the wonderful world of tumblr.

and here be a quick international women's day themed mix i cooked up.
